Week VII/ VIII
Alright alright alrighttttt
These next two weeks, shit is getting organized.
So far, it’s a great start of week
I mean, how can it not be when you start your week with Harry Potter and coffee?
For week 7, I really was focusing on upping the speed. For speed work I tend to gravitate towards the treadmill. I know. They’re so damn boringggg but it works for me. Every half mile I increase my pace by 30 seconds (depending on how long I’m going for because you KNOW I’m not upping my pace a minute a mile if I’m running 7 miles.
For my longer run during this week I was prepped the best I could be. I ate well the day before, was hydrated, and fueled myself correctly right beforehand. To get a little something in my stomach for a run, I’ve been eating the Honey Stinger Waffles and FUCK those things are so good. Do they do anything? No idea. But they’re small and taste awesome and isn’t boring like your average protein bar. I’ve also been trying out the Nuun Sport Hydration Tablets and so far so good. My long runs when I combine these two things and then take either a Honey Stinger Gel or a Gu Gel (the Roctane are where it’s AT) halfway through my run is when I feel on top of the world. Seriously. Try this shit out.
Week 8 was really just about fitting in my runs around Thanksgiving. Not gonna lie. That was a little hard. For Thanksgiving, my boyfriend and I trekked 6 1/2 hours to Austin, Texas to spend time with his family. It was so nice to relax and eat and drink so much wine, but I felt so stupid and a little sad for not bringing my running shoes with me. I initially figured I wouldn’t want to run and just spend time with family; however the weather was so nice and chilly in the mornings with the prettiest trails! I fucked up. I goofed. I will not make that mistake again, trust me. My runs before the trip to Austin were looking pretty good. The runs after were a little lazy on my part but hey. No ones perfect.
I have 2 weeks till my 5k and 1/2 marathon (that I still need to sign up for… oops) and I’m SO EXCITED TO BE BACK DOING RACES IN PERSON! The last race I did in person was the Rock N Roll New Orleans 5k and 1/2 marathon. It’s going to be weird racing again. Not because I haven’t since February, but because my results will not be what they were from my last race. I PR’d on both my 5k and 1/2 at the Rock N Roll race, and I know my time will not be the same. And that’s okay (at least that’s what I’m trying to tell myself).
Fuck COVID
See ya’ll next week (eh. maybe. I’m good at late posting)
XOXO
