Week XII/XIII
Week XII wasn’t so eventful.
It was honestly just a lot of walking… which my dog enjoyed.
I was pretty comfortable without a compression sleeve and didn’t get too sore. I would occasionally do a jog step at work or to throw away trash or get out of the rain and immediately feel off so. I stopped.
I stayed moving while at work and stretching and relaxing at home. Not gonna lie, this unfortunate time off at least came during the holidays! Run after Christmas dinner? Oh, I can’t. I need to rest. So, where’s the rest of that wine?
Week XIII I started back on that treadmill with a slow walk to warm up and then up to a slow and steady jog. I was a little nervous, but I was super happy with it. I was fairly comfortable on my first run back which made be super excited about my run for the next day.
I only ran twice this week, which is why this check in isn’t so long. But I’m super happy with how I’m feeling both mentally and physically. I needed the rest to get better, even though I 100% wanted to try to get back to running sooner than I should’ve. I think the “not running” was harder than actually running. It’s like telling a horse to stop standing or a dog to stop chasing a ball. Telling a runner to just sit and rest is a little unbearable.
Am I where I want to be? No, not really. But I’m not limping while walking anymore which is light years better than two weeks prior.
Instead of focusing on pace, I’m just focusing on putting in my miles (even if it means it takes me twice as long) until I feel 200% better.
I’m really really excited for what next week has in store. I’m starting up tennis lessons and trying to be more consistent on cross training.
Until next time,
XOXO
