Week XIV
Helllooooo everyone!
This week has been awesome, not gonna lie.
I started the week off with something a little new. At the end of 2020 I decided I was going to start tennis lessons! I can go ahead and scratch that off my bucket list now. It was such a fun learning experience… and also made me realize how bad I am at tennis. Still, I really enjoyed adding variety to my week with a sport. I’ve always been in some sport whether it was soccer, track, softball, or showjumping. Soooo adding this time to get to play a sport was very nostalgic… and something I plan on keeping in my schedule.
Tuesday through Friday I ran. No off days. Now, I know off days are necessary, but this week I really focused on just moving more and getting miles back into my routine. I’m not saying that I ran balls to the wall all of these days. Actually, a lot of those miles I tracked came from walking and easy jogging.
AND, to add more variety, Saturday I cross trained using Whitney Simmons’ Alive app. Highly suggest it. Super easy to follow, and while I feel totally fine during the workout, walking out of the gym is comical because damnnnn those workouts make my legs feel like jello.
I think more runners should put more focus on cross training. While I’ve slacked and haven’t been the best role model for cross training, my performance has definitely reflected. Pre-COVID I made sure to focus on putting in the time to cross train. During that time, I was the fastest I had ever been. We definitely are not back to those PR’s… but we’ll get there.
Next week is the week I’m starting to add back my long runs! This whole recovery process has been a pain in the ass but I’m excited for the rest of this journey to continue.
See you next week.
XOXO,
Amy
